Talented young event rider Caroline Harris has made the sad decision to retire her highly promising 11 year old mare, Billy Bumble from competition.

Billy Bumble most recently took a top 10 position in high class company in the Irish Field CCI4* at Tattersalls International Horse Trials at the beginning of June when finishing 8th in her first attempt at that level. She had 12 international starts and 9 top ten finishes and a 100% clear xc all the way up to 4*.

“It’s been a hugely tough decision but I know retirement is the best thing for my beautiful Billy Bumble. She truly has been my horse of a lifetime and made so many dreams come true and I owe her everything. I know I will never ride another horse like her, she always gave her all and her record speaks for itself,” commented Caroline.

“She means the absolute world to me so to know she will finish her career on the biggest high at Tattersalls where she finished 8th in the 4*L is all I could ask for. She is one feisty little lady that captured everyone’s heart and I can’t thank her enough. She has given me the pleasure of riding and being placed round some of the biggest events in Europe and for that I’m forever grateful. Bumble you will always be my number one and I can’t tell you how much you mean to me. Thank you.”

Billy Bumble is owned by Caroline’s father, Mark Harris and the family are now discussing whether to put her into foal. Caroline acquired Bumble as a 4 year old from the famous Billy Stud. She was bred by Donal Barnwell and is by Kannan out of Olithya.
